I love teaching yoga to children. It’s a creative way to get them moving after school in a noncompetitive environment. However, I understand that when parents hear the word “yoga,” they might expect something more… traditional? Even when the child is only six or ten years old.
But yoga is many things. Its aim is to connect the body, mind, and spirit, improving physical and mental well-being. While asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork), and meditation are key tools for reconnection, they aren’t the only way and definitively not the sole focus of children’s yoga classes.
